In December 1704, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs and the Father of Khalsa Panth left the Fort of Anandpur Sahib with his family and followers that was encircled by cruel Mughal Emperors . While crossing Sarsa river in rainy and black dark night Guru Gobind Singh Ji, his elder Sons and some followers separated from Mata Gujri ji, younger Sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh as well as the followers of Guru Sahib.
After that, Guru Gobind Singh Ji reached at Chamkaur Sahib with some of his followers and elder Sons Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh. In the Battle of Shri Chamkaur Sahib Guru Ji had lost two of his elder sons and beloved followers. Everyone in the region was seeking Guru Sahib as a refugee and he was facing presecution. Then, Guru Gobind Singh Ji sailed away from Shri Chamkaur Sahib to his next journey.
Finally, by facing troubles and pain in shivery black night, Guru Gobind Singh Ji reached in a small village that was known as Chuharpur and is located in the Machhiwara area of Ludhiana. At that time, Chuharpur was a dense forest area where Guru Sahib had a meeting with an old Saint name Baba Piyara Singh ji. Sant Baba Piyara Singh served Guru Gobind Singh Ji with utmost devotion the entire night. As it was a dense forest, Guru Sahib had rest under a Jhad (bush) whole night. Since then village name Chuharpur turned into Jhar Sahib.
Dedicated to the memory of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Late Pandit Sada Nand Sharma and the well-known people of the area decided to established a Women College in 1975. The College got affiliation from Panjab University, Chandigarh in the year 2000. The College is working and supervised under the vision of SGPC (Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee) Amritsar since April 9, 2003.
It is an excellent institute in the area providing Quality Education to their students. Our College is providing Under-Graduation, Post-Graduation and other courses like Post-Graduation Diplomas as well as +1 and +2 with Arts, Commerce, Medical and Non-Medical study for the desired students with complete assistance and support.
