The Department of Sociology at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College for Women is dedicated to providing students with a deep understanding of social structures, human behavior, and the forces that shape societies. The department offers undergraduate programs designed to equip students with the analytical tools and theoretical knowledge necessary to examine and understand the complexities of modern society.

The curriculum covers a wide array of topics, including Social Theory, Indian Society, Sociology of Gender, Urban Sociology, Rural Development, and Social Stratification. Students explore the dynamics of class, caste, ethnicity, and power, while also addressing contemporary issues such as globalization, social change, and social justice.

The department focuses on developing critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to apply sociological concepts to real-world situations.

Faculty members are committed to fostering an interactive learning environment through lectures, discussions, seminars, and fieldwork.

In addition to academic learning, the department encourages students to participate in social outreach programs, workshops, and seminars to further their understanding of societal issues. Graduates from the Department of Sociology are well-prepared for careers in social work, research, counseling, human resources, public policy, and education, or for pursuing advanced studies in sociology and related fields.
