Punjabi department feel proud to be first Postgraduate department of the college. M.A. Punjabi was started in 2010. The students of the department have succeeded in gaining the highest place in merit list. At present two teachers are giving their services to the department. Beside class room teaching, to prosper Punjabi Language Literature and Culture has become the responsibility of the department. 

The Department of Punjabi at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College for Women is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural and literary heritage of the Punjabi language. The department offers undergraduate programs designed to deepen students’ understanding of Punjabi literature, language, and culture while fostering an appreciation for the historical and contemporary significance of the language.

The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects including Classical and Modern Punjabi Literature, Linguistics, Poetry, Folk Literature, and the study of prominent literary figures. Students are encouraged to explore the works of renowned poets, writers, and scholars, gaining a thorough understanding of

the linguistic nuances and literary traditions of Punjabi. 

The department’s experienced faculty members provide personalized guidance and mentorship, creating a dynamic learning environment that encourages students to engage with the language in both academic and creative ways. Workshops, seminars, and cultural events are regularly organized to enhance students’ language skills and provide exposure to the broader cultural context.

In addition to academic excellence, the Department of Punjabi encourages students to actively participate in promoting Punjabi culture through cultural festivals, literary competitions, and community outreach. Graduates from the department are well-equipped for careers in teaching, journalism, translation, media, and cultural preservation.
