Religious Studies

The Department of Religion at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College for Women is dedicated to exploring the profound connection between religion, spirituality, and culture. The department offers a unique platform for students to engage with the world’s major religious traditions, philosophies, and practices, fostering an understanding of their influence on individual lives and societies.

The curriculum covers various aspects of religion, including the study of Indian religions (Sikhism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism), world religions, religious texts, rituals, and religious philosophy. Students are encouraged to delve into both historical and contemporary religious thought, gaining a deep appreciation for the spiritual and cultural heritage of diverse communities.

The department is committed to nurturing critical thinking, research skills, & an open-minded approach to religious studies. Faculty members guide students through lectures, seminars, and field visits, allowing them to explore religious diversity and engage with scholars and practitioners from various religious backgrounds.

Through discussions, workshops, and cultural programs, the department encourages students to explore the role of religion in social and ethical issues, fostering tolerance, understanding, and respect for diversity. Graduates from the Department of Religion are prepared for careers in teaching, religious leadership, social work, counseling, and research, or for further studies in theology or religious studies.

Religious Studies Department Organise Various Religious Activities and Extention Lectures for the Students to teach them “Moral Values” and “Ethical Behaviour”. The Department was established in the year 1975.Our Students received  many types of Scholarships and prizes in Religious Exams.
